Data visualization best-practices
- Display a grid
- Use the two analytical axes as column and row
- Define the size of the bubble by the actual performance of this KPI for this combination of items
- Provide additional details on performance with a mouse-over
- Use color coding of the bubble to express the actual sign of the performance (in some cases, you might have a KPI for which the value is negative: you could then represent positive values in green and negative in red, the actual size of the bubble being thus defined by the absolute value of the KPI performance)
- Order by KPI value descending
- Allow the user to dynamically select the KPI he wants to analyze (for instance moving from a Revenue analysis to a Gross Margin analysis)
- Allow the user to dynamically select the axes of analysis
- Provide the ability to access the detailed figures in a simple cross-table
